Project Name: Stapleton Redevelopment, Denver, Colorado
Date Project Began: March 2000
Date Project Completed: Ongoing
Project Description:
Casey Resources, Inc. (CRI) is the Environmental Project Manager for Forest City Stapleton, Inc., the master developer of the former Stapleton International Airport. This is currently the largest Brownfield Redevelopment Project in the country. The project has required emergency response to contamination discoveries; drum site characterization and remediation; and permit compliance (construction dewatering and stormwater management plan implementation). For a specific site, CRI also prepared and implemented a Voluntary Cleanup Plan (VCUP). This plan required CRI to inspect soil for suspect Asbestos Containing Material (ACM); remove asbestos contaminated soil in accordance with a Soil Characterization and Management Plan; remove asbestos containing cement pipe; and prepare a report documenting all soil disturbing activities. This site was issued a letter of No Further Action (NFA) by the State of Colorado.
Type of Contamination: Various contaminants including petroleum and Polynuclear Aromatic Hydrocarbon (PAH) contamination in soils and groundwater.
